Our Garden Secrets
Created to celebrate the magic found in muddy hands, blooming flowers, and time together.
Some of the most meaningful moments in life happen when no one realizes they're being remembered.
One afternoon, Matt quietly took this photograph through the window while I was outside holding Sadie and playing fetch with Baron in the garden. I had no idea he was watching. To me, it was simply another ordinary afternoon spent with the two companions who filled my days with the greatest joy.
Looking back, I realize those ordinary moments are the ones I want to remember most.
The laughter, the gentle rhythm of motherhood, the excitement of Baron waiting for one more throw, and the simple happiness of being together in our own backyard. There was nothing planned or posed about it. It was simply life unfolding exactly as it should.
I titled this painting Our Garden Secrets because it feels like a glimpse into a world that belonged only to us. The garden became a place where memories quietly accumulated—a place filled with little conversations, games of fetch, first discoveries, and the everyday moments that would never make it into a family photo album but somehow became the foundation of our lives.
Motherhood is often remembered through milestones: first words, first steps, birthdays, and celebrations. But I've found that its greatest beauty lives in the spaces between those milestones. It's found in afternoons like this one, where nothing extraordinary happened, yet everything that mattered was already there.
Sometimes the most precious memories aren't the ones we plan to preserve.
They're the ones someone else quietly notices for us.
