Before She Flew
Created to celebrate the places that shape us long before we find the courage to spread our wings.
Before She Flew was inspired by my mother's hometown of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania—a place that shaped her childhood, her dreams, and so many of the memories she still carries today.
Like so many of us, she eventually left to begin a new chapter, but a part of her heart never truly left this cozy, little river town. The title reflects that quiet season before life carried her somewhere new, when home was still the center of her world and the future was waiting just beyond the horizon. It took great courage to travel across half the country to start her next adventure where she truly spread her wings and created the life she wanted for herself.
My hope is that this painting reminds others of the places that first taught them who they were—the hometowns, traditions, and landscapes that remain part of us no matter how far life carries us.
